Eternal Torment: Crushed For Ever

Once again, the Iron Lady's fist full of scriptures comes down full force on the false eternal torment LIE.

Mt 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world <165>?

Strong's #165: "aion" = ever, age, eternity, universe

There is "this world":

Mr 4:19 And the cares of this world <165>, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

and also "that world":

Mr 10:30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world <165> to come eternal life.

There is "this aion" and "that aion". There is "this age" and "that age". There is "this eternity" and "that eternity".

Again, there is "this world":

Lu 20:34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world <165> marry, and are given in marriage:

and also "that world":

Lu 20:35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world <165>, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:

Sometimes, "aion" spans both this world and that world, before and after the coming resurrection.

Joh 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever <165>: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world,

Notice the clear requirement for "for ever" life. It is "IF"...any man eat of this bread. It is amazing how such a little word can make such a huge difference. Life "for ever" is conditional. It is promised to those who are in Christ. There is NO life outside of Christ. Only death. The worms that feast on the dead will never die because the dead are "for ever" dead. They will be a continual, delectable, gourmet dish for the lowly worms.

The iron coup of grace:

Eph 3:21  Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world ['aion', #165] without end. Amen.

The "for ever" which the eternal torment cult relies on so heavily refers to whatever ages in view. The Bible is about this world, and also that world.

Re 20:10  And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

There will be no "day and night" when the new earth is re-created. Matthew 25:46 is the eternal tormentors' favorite battle cry:

Mt 25:46  And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

What is the duration of the punishment or torment? Jesus is describing the trial before the Judge of the earth in Matthew 25. The everlasting punishment coincides with the sentence that will be pronounced at the trial in Matthew 25:41:

Mt 25:41  Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

How long is the "everlasting (aionios, Strong's #166) punishment"? The same exact reference to "everlasting" is found here, in Paul's letter to Philemon in regard to Onesius who was as a son to Paul:

Phm 1:15 For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever <166>;

The righteous elect will also go away into an "everlasting" situation: "Life eternal".

Mt 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting <166> punishment: but the righteous into life eternal <166>.

Jesus teaches us in plain language when exactly His elect will receive "eternal" or "everlasting" life:

Mr 10:28 Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.
Mrk 10:29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,

Mr 10:30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world <165, "aion"> to come eternal <166, "aionios"> life.

No "eternal life" yet. No "eternal punishment" yet. The duration of each must be understood in their respective contexts, by comparing all applicable scriptures. On one hand, the eternal tormentors say that fire will destroy the earth, but somehow, they also say that the unsaved will survive the fire.

2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

But, somehow, according to the eternal tormentors, the unsaved will thrive for ever and ever in the fire. (That's because they think the unsaved are so very important to God.)

Re 20:15  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Yes, according to the eternal tormentors, "the second death" explained in Revelation 21:8 refers to a never-ending life of melting, burning and dissolving.

Re 21:8  "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone:

which is...

(wait for it) . . .   . . .

the second death."
